2026 EDO STATE LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL ELECTIONS: EDSIEC PUBLISHES PERSONAL PARTICULARS OF CANDIDATES

The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) has personal particulars of candidates seeking elections in the forthcoming July 11, 2026 Local Government Council Elections across the state. 

In a release signed by the Commission’s Acting Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Abebe, he notified the general public, political parties, and all stakeholders that it has published the personal particulars of candidates for the forthcoming Edo State elections. 

“This publication is in strict compliance with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act, 2022, which mandates the Commission to publish the personal particulars of candidates within seven (7) days of receipt of nomination forms submitted by political parties,” Abebe stated.

Accordingly, the personal particulars have been made available for public inspection at the following locations:

 •        All EDSIEC Local Government Offices across the State

•        The EDSIEC Headquarters, Plot 116, Oko-Ogba Airport Road, Benin City

•        The Commission’s official Facebook page

He said members of the public have been encouraged to carefully scrutinize the published particulars, adding that any person with reasonable grounds to challenge the information provided by any candidate is advised to take appropriate legal steps as provided by law. 

“The Commission reiterates its commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, and transparent electoral process and calls on all stakeholders to continue to cooperate with the Commission in ensuring the success of the upcoming elections.
